This UK premiere of the opera coincides with Glass’s 80th birthday year. Based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, it has a magical libretto by Arthur Yorinks author of 35 award-winning children’s books.
The opera features the outstanding soprano Mariya Krywaniuk, baritone James Corrigan and soprano Rebecca Moon.
Children from Richmond borough schools are taking part alongside a community chorus. The director is Donna Stirrup of the English National Opera & Glyndebourne Festival Operas.
